The Memory Hole
I’m beginning to think something is wrong with my memory.
It’s strange, the feeling. I don’t know how to describe it. It’s not like I have amnesia or anything. I remember who I am, I think. And I remember things that happened in the past, but I don’t think I remember them the way they happened.
The history of the Covid years, for example. My memory of that period is all messed up. I hadn’t realized…

The Rogue AI Psy-Op Part 3 – do you see where this is going yet?
A few days ago, I wrote an article highlighting the bizarre story of OpenAI AND Anthropic AND Meta all suddenly claiming to have “rogue AI agents” escape their “containment” and try to hack other companies in the space of a week or two.
Two days after that I pennedthe sequel, noting the even more extreme “scary AI” stories – from mind-reading computer…

As promised here is a quick rundown of what’s new in the new look OffG

Hi all – and welcome back.
OffG has just been extensively renovated and updated, with a lot of re-coding and restructuring. The major changes and fixes are all done, but we’ll be continuing to work on some finer details for a few days, so you might notice a few glitches or brief outages.
We’d also appreciate your feedback if you encounter any major issues or problems. You can let…

Hearsay
It seems that nearly every bit of information we receive these days is hearsay, or more bluntly, a lie. I think most people do not believe that a lot of the things they hear, or read in the news, are out-and-out lies.
In fact, a distinction needs to be made between conscious and intentional lies and things that are simply not true. Once we make that distinction, we find that most of what reaches us belongs …

From “Designed Viruses” to “Digital Telepathy” – AI Panic Kicks into Overdrive
Two days ago, I wrote an article detailing the sudden rash of “rogue AI agents” allegedly besetting the tech community, and how that may be used to bring in new regulations, notionally targeting AI, but actually limiting or monitoring how ordinary people use the internet.
In the 48 hours since, that blatant fear-mongering has gone WILD.…

Are You Ready for the “Rogue AI” Psy-Op?
The AIs are breaking free, that’s the story.
It started two weeks ago, when OpenAI reported one of their “agents” had escaped its testing area and got loose on the internet to launch an “unprecedented cyber attack”.
This was clearly meant to be scarier than the public response indicated, because a few days later OpenAI CEO Sam Altman was on the Invest like the Best podcast,…

OffG will be going into maintenance mode for a few hours today (August 4th/5th 2026), as we prepare for a big update of the site’s theme, layout and appearance.

They Really Don’t Care
This might not apply to all sheep-types, but many of the ones I have encountered simply do not care. This could be the reason we can’t seem to get through to them with the facts we are constantly shoving down their throats. Of course, the ones I’ve talked to may just be saying they don’t care to shut me up, but I really don’t think so. They seem pretty sincere.
How could they not care? Now, t…

Showing the 12 most recent of 28 posts we hold for @offguardian. View and reaction counts are the latest single reading for each post, not a live figure, and a recent post is still accumulating both. A view count marked ≈ was rounded by Telegram before we ever saw it — t.me prints views in full below 1,000 and to three significant figures above, so ≈1,200,000 means somewhere between 1,150,000 and 1,249,999. Unmarked counts are exact. Text is reproduced from the public post preview and truncated for length.
