من عجيب ما قرره بعض العارفين أن الله عز وجل قد يؤخر إجابة الدعاء لامتحان الصبر على الدعاء .. فيكون الابتلاء لا فى الابتلاء الذي يدعو المؤمن لرفعه، بل فى الصبر على الدعاء برفعه .. فنحن أمام عبادتين؛ الدعاء، والصبر على الدعاء. وهو من معاني قولهﷺ: "يُستجاب لأحدكم ما لم يعْجَل". حيث يتعلق المؤمن بالدعاء حتى يصير عبادة له على هيئة العادة، لا أن ييأس ويمل ويقول "دعوت فلم يُستَجب لي". لأن غاية التأخير غَمْر النفس بالعبود…
