خیام برای به دست آوردن ضرایب بسط دو جمله ای روشی جالب مطابق شکل فوق ارائه داد که چندین قرن بعد پاسکال هم به آن رسید؛ چون هرکدام جداگانه به آن رسیدند به مثلث خیام_پاسکال مشهور شد! متاسفانه امروز در کتاب های درسی خودمان خبری از نام خیام نیست

علامت مساوی را رابرت رکورد ریاضیدان ویلزی در 1557 ابداع کرد که از نوشتن "مساوی است با" خسته شده بود. در ابتدا به ندرت از این علامت استفاده میشد و حتی گاهی آنرا به صورت دو خط عمودی مینوشتند!

ایشون آقای اراتوستن، ریاضیدان و ستاره شناس یونانی (276 سال قبل از میلاد) هستند. این بزرگوار با استفاده از زاویههای سایه خورشید بر چند نقطه از زمین، اندازه محیط زمین رو 39375 کیلومتر تخمین زد! این رقم فقط 1.4 درصد از 40.076 کیلومتر، یعنی محیط واقعی زمین کمتره! دقت کنید، با استفاده از زاویههای سایه خورشید بر چند نقطه از زمین! بعد ما به دوتا سوال رشیدپور تو تلویزیون جواب میدیم و فکر میکنیم تو این مملکت حیف شدیم!
