من هنا جاءت تسمية كتاب "شموع النهار" للدكتور عبدالله العجيري. والذي اقترح الاسم هو الشيخ بدر. فالذي يحاول اثبات وجود الله هو في الحقيقة كمن يحاول اشعال شمعة في وضح النهار.
حين يقول لي أحدهم: لماذا تعمل و الواقع سيء؟ أقول: إنما أعمل لأن الواقع سيء؛ فلا قيمة لشمعة تُضاء وسط النهار! حين تقول لك نفسك: توقف؛ أنت مذنب ومقصر فكيف تعمل؟ أقول: لأني مذنب ومُقصر أعمل، ولو كنت كاملًا لركنت!
