برای نخستین بار نفیسی به استناد دو سفینه، این رباعی را از رودکی دانسته اما نفیسی در چاپ نخست، به دلیل استفاده «دماغ» به معنی بینی انتساب این رباعی به رودکی را بسیار ضعیف دانسته است.
