على قوله تعالى: ﴿لَا يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا﴾؛ أي: لا يُكلِّف أحدًا فوق طاقته، وهذا من لطفه تعالى بخلقه، ورأفته بهم، وإحسانه إليهم. وهذه هي الناسخة لما كان أشفق منه الصحابة في قوله: ﴿وَإِنْ تُبْدُوا مَا فِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ أَوْ تُخْفُوهُ يُحَاسِبْكُمْ بِهِ اللَّهُ﴾. فأما ما لا يمكن دفعه من وسوسة النفس وحديثها، فهذا لا يُكلَّف به الإنسان، وكراهية الوسوسة السيئة من الإيمان. تفسير ابن كثير، ج ١، ص ٧٤١.
