То же самое касается слова "идол", которое, правда, было дискредитировано века назад представителями церкви. Но я не понимаю, почему, например, кришнаиты постоянно впрягаются в спор "наши Божества в храме - не идолы, а мурти, сам Господь в форме камня или металла..." Но кто сказал, что "идол" это плохо? Меня, всё-таки, угнетает мысль, что мы позволили лжеученым (например, сектоведам) дискредитировать нормальные русские слова, ранее не имевшие негативной коннотации. Например, "секта". Секта - это просто религиозно-философская школа. И на вывесках буддийских монастырей в Бодхгайе мы видим гордые надписи "монастырь секты такой-то". Śrī Santāneśvar Mahādev превратится в Сатанешвара, если не-шротрия иностранцы, считающиеся некоторыми брахманами, но не знающие санскрита (а значит и святых шрути) забудут поставить всего одну маленькую точку сверху в надписи на деванагари (स вместо सं).
