У Фуллера, к слову, тромбон он отобрал и всучил литавры. Латиф, ясное дело, дудит на всём, куда можно дуть, даже в коровий рог. …

Моё первое знакомство с Юзефом Латифом — и сразу такое удачное. Его дебютный альбом на Savoy, записанный 5 апреля 1957 года Ван Гелдером в Нью-Йорке, произвёл на меня сильное впечатление. Афро-восточные нотки ещё не превалируют, но уже вплетаются в ткань хард-бопа. На первой пьесе — ещё и вокально-ритуальные вопли, которые только добавляют атмосферы. Сам он кричит и ухает или кто ещё, я так и не разобрался, но клёво.…

Johnny Hodges & Wild Bill Davis — «Joe's Blues» (Verve, 1965). Hélcio Milito — «Kilombo» (1987). Барабанщик Tamba Trio, один из столпов бразильской боссы и самбы, записал редкий сольник. По звуку — латин-джаз с самодельной перкуссией «тамба», похожей на стил-пэн. Есть Вила-Лобос через батукаду, есть Aza Branca, авторства Luiz Gonzaga, есть кавер на Эрмето Паскоаля. Тёплый, немного странный и очень живой альбом. На виниле такое найти — удача.

Второй раз слушаю этот альбом. Первый вчера вечером. С утра прям пришелся под настроение и неторопливое состояние. Вчера же как будто не хватало драйва, и это на ночь-то глядя.
