Взялся учить санскрит (надо же было однажды), и, конечно, история санскрита на Западе — это во многом викторианская история. Скажем, чуть не лучший санскритско-английский словарь — это словарь Моньера-Уильямса, викторианского индолога. Ну и он был, как все они, немного странный. Сейчас мне редко приходят викторианские книжки (но the tide is turning, я где-то в месяце от возвращения к викторианским проектам), однако одна вот пришла. Каббала в позднем викторианстве в том числе. Стоила немало, но — я ее полистал и, кажется, она того очень даже стоит.

Проблема тут для меня в том, что я терпеть не могу неовикторианские тексты, особенно плохо сделанный стимпанк, и с большим подозрением смотрю даже на хорошие вещи. Я фанат оригинала, грубо говоря. Точно так же мне вряд ли были бы интересны массовые современные поделки про СССР — если бы на СССР была такого рода мода (впрочем, она есть, вот эти попаданцы в кого ни попадя) — с кучей ошибок, бездарной псевдопсихологией …
