لكن العرب جبلت على الحج الى الكعبه حتى قبل الاسلام لمعرفتهم بعظمتها وان ابراهيم النبي هو الذي بناها وان الله انقذ اسماعيل عندها من الذبح ، لذلك تربت العرب في الجاهلية قبل الاسلام على استعظام المكان والكعبه بالاخص حتى انهم من شدة توقيرهم لها علقوا عليها المعلقات السبع واقاموا بداخلها اصنامهم العظيمه لشدة تعظيمهم لها .

وكان ابرهة الحبشي قد بنى بيتا سماه القُليس واراد ان يحول العرب من الحج لمكة الى بيته الذهبي بصنعاء في اليمن ، وكان يعلم جيدا ان العرب لا تغير ملتها التي تربت عليها كعادات وتقاليد بغض النظر عن انه دين ففي ذلك الوقت لم يأذن الله للاسلام ان يخرج
