Перед началом мне на глаза попался тягач с рождественской ёлкой. Её, начиная с 1971 года, Новая Шотландия каждое Рождество дарит Бостону в память о помощи, оказанной его жителями во время большого взрыва в Галифаксе в 1917 году, который буквально сравнял город с землёй. Она, как мне сказали, тоже участвовала в параде перед отправкой в Бостон.

Колонна вышла довольно длинная, но у нас не получилось посмотреть всех, потому что....мы сами принимали участие в параде. Компания, где работает Аня была одной из спонсоров и организовала свою платформу. Тематика была рождественская, даже был свой живой снеговик и искусственный снег. Местная хоккейная команда юниоров Mooseheads (Лосиные Головы) тоже была частью нашей группы и шла вдоль улиц, приветствуя людей. Особ…
В прошлые выходные в Галифаксе прошёл парад огней. Можно было увидеть платформы на любой вкус и цвет. Тут и старая пожарная машина, и мини копия парома, ходящего между Галифаксом и Дартмутом через разделяющую их бухту, и песчаные замки. Кстати, надпись K'jipuktuk на одном из замков считается оригинальным названием Галифакса на языке местных племен Микмаков.

Даже для Галифакса нашлось место - на страницах 16-17 изображён знаменитый Пирс 21, через который прошло огромное количество иммигрантов, прибывших в Канаду морем в начале и середине XX века. Он даже был назван «Воротами в Канаду». Сейчас там расположен музей.
