В эти дни празднуют память святой Фёклы Иконийской, ученицы апостола Павла, которая, согласно преданию, закончила свои дни в Маалуле. Скрываясь от гонителей, Фекла добралась до скалы, которую она не могла обойти. По её молитве к Богу в скале появился узкий проход: по нему Фекла сумела спастись от преследователей. Печально, но в Маалюле отменили традиционное ночное празднование Воздвижения Креста Господня. Пройдет лишь служба в храме, а также будет зажжен факел на вершине горы. Не будет походу ни костров, ни гуляний...

описание икон с мучениками убрал под спойлер сегодня были в музее русской иконы, там есть зал с эфиопским христианским искусством и есть икона с неизвестными мучениками. Очень подробно изображено жуткое орудие пыток с огромным количеством лезвий разных форм и размеров, рассекающих тело мученика, другой обезглавлен, а третьему пилой рассекают череп пополам, так много крови и тёмного ужаса. И среди всего этого — их ли…
