Що цікаво, певне підтвердження германського впливу на Волині надає й антропологія: населення Волині у порівнянні з іншими групами українців расово є найбільш північноєвропейським. Американський антрополог минулого сторіччя К. Кун називав Волинь найбільш нордичним регіоном України[1], також такі українські антропологи, як С. Сегеда та В. Дуліби-германці. Достатньо обгрунтованою є версія про те, що племінна назва *dudlěbi є запозиченням з германських мов. Так, словенський лінгвіст Р. Нахтигаль пропонував таку логічну етимологію: *dudlěbi < герм. Dudl-eiba «країна волинок» (нім. Dudelsack), буквально переклад слав. Volynь (: укр. Волинь), де, власне, і проживали дуліби. Полабські слов'яни та українці. На зображенні — генетичні дистанції від вибірки полабських слов'ян 12-13 ст. з німецького містечка Кракауер Берг. Як бачимо, найближчою популяцію до них є Ukrainian_Rivne. Не лише генетика підтверджує наявність таких цікавих зв'язків. Ще П. Шафарик, розмірковуючи про подібність назв географічно віддалених слов'янських племен, згадав про подібність імен деревлян та полабських дереван…

Краніологічна спадкоємність українців від полян. Сучасні українці в антропологічному відношенні можуть бути пов'язані як з полянами, так і з більш західними групами.
