افتراق SCC و BCC و خال و ملانوم پوستی در SCC سلولها دارای سیتوپلاسم و هسته‌های بزرگ ائوزینوفیل هستند و نست تشکیل می‌دهند و کراتین پرل می‌سازند. در BCC سلولها دارای ستوپلاسم اندک و هسته‌های بازوفیل هستند و نست تشکیل می‌دهند اما کراتین پرل زیاد نمی‌سازند. اطراف نست‌ها، هسته‌ها حالت پرچینی (pallisade) دارند که این مورد تشخیص قطعی است. در ملانوم، سلولها دارای سیتوپلاسم اندک و هسته‌های روشن بدخیم و هستکهای قرمز ه…

خال هم ممکن است نست ایجاد کند اما فرق عمده‌ی آن با نست‌های دیگر تومورهای پوستی، روشن بودن هسته‌های سلول‌هاست. ناحیه‌ی مشخص شده رسوب ملانین است. (با زوم ۴۰ راحت‌تر مشخص می‌شود) Nevus could also build nests but the main difference with other epidermal tumors is the palor of nuclei. Marked area is Melanin deposit. (Best seen in 40x zoom)
