قال القرطبي -رحمه الله- فيما ينبغي لصاحب القرآن أن يأخذ نفسه به: "وينبغي له: أن يتعلّم أحكام القرآن، فيفهم عن الله مراده، وما فُرض عليه، فينتفع بما يقرأ، ويعمل بما يتلوه، فما أقبح لحامل القرآن، أن يتلو فرائضه، وأحكامه عن ظهر قلب، وهو لا يفهم ما يتلوه! فكيف يعمل بما لا يفهم معناه؟ وما أقبح أن يسأل عن فقه ما يتلوه، ولا يدريه!" • الجامع لأحكام القرآن (٣٨/١).
