Речь о Федоре Толстом. Это скорее всего анекдот, но судьба у чувака была действительно яркой. В начале XIX века участвовал в кругосветном плавании Крузенштерна, но его высадили на Камчатке (или Алеутских островах) за поведение, оттуда он добирался домой через Аляску и Америку — отсюда прозвище.
