وضعت الحرب أوزارها فقلت "الحمد لله، أخطأَت صالحا" فلم يكد يعقب ليلُ الهدنة نهارها حتى زُفّت إليه الشهادة غدْرا وغِيلة؛ فأمسى عند أحبابه ومن على شاكلته ممن ذرعوا أرض غزة في الفداء والتضحية وإغاضة الأعداء، كأنهم نادوه "هلُم إلينا، هنا -عند الله- أجمل!" رحمات الله تتنزل عليك أخانا صالح.. وربما ما يراد لغزة أثقل من أن تقبله النفوس الشريفة فقبضها الله رأفة وتحننا، إلا أن تدركنا وإياها ألطاف الله الجبار.

أتخيل قهر الغزّي الذي يرقب ولده والجوع يأكله وهو يذوي ويذوب كما الجليد ولا يقدر على توفير لقمة يوقف بها ذلك الذوبان، حتى إذا التصق الجلد بالعظم وغارت العيون وبرزت الأسنان والترائب أسلم الولد روحه جوعا ولفظ الوالد كبِده قهرا. أيهنأ العيش لإنسان وهو يرى مجوّعين -من أي ملة- والطعام على أبوابهم مكدس؟ هذه أعتى صور الظلم وقهر القوي للضعيف وخذلان الأخ لأخيه على مر التاريخ.
