Я возлагаю большие надежды на введение новой системы финансово-бухгалтерской отчетности. (..) Я об ней думаю без всякого удовольствия — ведь мне пришлось потратить немало времени на то, чтобы разобраться в основе наших финансово-бухгалтерских процедур. Это чертовски скучно. Тут товарищи-ученые скверно относятся ко мне, нет того хорошего товарищеского отношения, которое было в Кембридже, так что я их послал к черту и не имею с ними дела. Рождество празднуют здесь как нигде, вроде того, как раньше у нас праздновали Пасху. За неделю уже начинаются хлопоты, чистка, готовят всякие кушанья и т.п. Какое-то умопомешательство с подарками на Рождество. Накупают кипы никому не нужной дребедени, «безделушек» и дарят всем знакомым. Я несколько обеспокоен нарзанными ваннами. Чем больше я видел в Кисловодске людей, принимающих нарзанные ванны, тем дольше у меня укреплялось впечатление, что эта процедура приносит пользу только очень здоровым людям, которые от нее делаются еще здоровее.
