"Видение смерти" Егишэ Чаренца - одно из самых известных произведений поэта. Чаренц описывает сгустившуюся над Арменией мглу, атмосферу безысходности. Поэту явился образ плахи, и он поднимается на нее сам, умоляя судьбу, чтобы никто больше не подходил к ней после него, и чтобы в его потухающих глазах мелькнул образ будущей сильной Армении.
Очевидец похорон Ваграм Овсепян писал: «Гроб несли на городское кладбище по нынешнему проспекту. Был слышен громкий душераздирающий крик, это плакал Чаренц… Его подняли с могильного холма в бессознательном состоянии…». Любовь Чаренца к Арпеник была сильной, позже он назовет ее «женой, товарищем и героическим другом». Эта любовь и в дальнейшем служила источником вдохновения для поэта.
