-هو يوم العتق من النار كما روى مسلم في صحيحه من حديث عائشة -رضي الله عنها- أن رسول اللهﷺ قال: «مَا مِنْ يَوْمٍ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ أَنْ يُعْتِقَ اللَّهُ -عز وجل- فِيهِ عَبْدًا مِنَ النَّارِ مِنْ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ». سلوا الله أن يعتق رقابكم ورقاب آبائكم من النار، وأكثروا من التوبة و الاستغفار.

-هو يوم يُباهي فيه الله الملائكة بالحجاج، فقد روى الإمام أحمد في مسنده من حديث عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص -رضي الله عنهما- أن النبيﷺ كان يقول: «إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يُبَاهِي مَلائِكَتَهُ عَشِيَّةَ عَرَفَةَ بِأَهْلِ عَرَفَةَ، فَيَقُولُ: انْظُرُوا إِلَى عِبَادِي أَتَوْنِي شُعْثًا غُبْرًا».

الدعاء يوم عرفة عظيم المكانة رفيع الشأن، قَال النَّبيُّ ﷺ: "خَيرُ الدُّعاء دُعاءُ يومِ عَرفة، وخيرُ ما قُلتُ أنَا والنَّبيُون مِن قَبلِي: لاَ إلهَ إلَّا الله وَحدهُ لا شَريكَ لَه، لهُ المُلك، ولهُ الحمدُ، وهُو علَى كلِّ شيءٍ قَدِير". صَحيحُ التَّرغِيب للألبَانِي (١٥٣٦).
