Just south of Kirkby Stephen in Westmorland is a stone bridge that doesn’t look too out of the ordinary if you drive across it. But viewed from below there’s an elaborate collapsed cave system. This was known by locals as the Devil’s Grinding Mill, due to the rumbling, churning sounds of the water.
