Delhi High Court observed that a false promise of marriage makes consensual sex an offence only when it induced the sexual relationship. The Court clarified that merely consensual sexual relations between adults do not constitute the offence unless the consent was “tainted” by such an assurance.

Delhi High Court held that the default bail period under the UAPA remains 180 days, not 90 days, even after the BNSS came into force. Default bail is granted when the investigating agency fails to file a chargesheet within the prescribed period.
Supreme Court held that judicial interference in public procurement tenders at an advanced stage is unwarranted, observing that delayed challenges to tender conditions after substantial progress in evaluation would be unfair and unjust to otherwise eligible bidders.
SC held that illegal appointment cannot gain legality through prolonged service, ruling that illegality cannot be cured by lapse of time. The judgment arose from appeals concerning the deputation and absorption of four Haryana Development and Panchayat Department officers into PW(B&R) Department.
Supreme Court held that an insurer is not liable for losses occurring after the insured’s turnover exceeded the sum insured under a Marine Cargo Annual Turnover Policy, where the enhanced premium was not paid in advance, as barred by Section 64VB of the Insurance Act, 1938.
Supreme Court, while modifying a Madras High Court order, reiterated that where a convict receives life imprisonment for murder along with sentences for other offences, the sentences must run concurrently, not consecutively.
Supreme Court dismissed a plea challenging hanging as a method of execution, while allowing future constitutional review if medical or scientific evidence warrants it. The Union Government may also explore alternatives through an expert body to minimise pain and preserve dignity.
