ولی اگر شما می خواهید هم سوژه و هم پس زمینه (بکگراند) هر دو روشن باشند، باید هر دو را با فاصله مناسبی نسبت به منبع نوری و البته نزدیک به هم قرار دهید.
درباره نورپردازی بکگراند (پس زمینه) گاهی شما می خواهید یک سوژه نور خوبی داشته باشد و سوژه دیگری در عکس تاریک باشد، مانند پس زمینه. بنابراین اگر سوژه شما فاصلی کمی با منبع نور داشته باشد و پس زمینه با فاصله زیادی نسبت به منبع نور واقع شده باشد، در این حالت ( با فرض اینکه سوژه اصلی شما به درستی نورپردازی شده باشد ) پس زمینه خیلی تاریک تر خواهد بود.

ولی اگر شما همه سوژه ها را از منبع نور دور کنید، در نزدیکی های f/4 تقریباً همه افراد در شرایط نوری یکسان قرار خواهند گرفت.
