وویس جدید زندگی حرفه ای استقلال عاقلانه … "خودبسندگی" و "احتیاج به خلوت" هر دو ناشی از احتیاج شدید به "استقلال"اند. شخص عزلتطلب احتیاج به استقلال را که صرفاً ناشی از حساسیتها و احتیاجات عصبی اوست به حساب آزادگی خود میگذارد، ولی حقیقت این است که چنین احتیاج یا تمایلی مانند سایر تمایلات و احتیاجات عصبی، کیفیتی است اجباری و ناشی از ترسها و اضطرابهای عمیق درونی.
