Ibn Taymiyah wrote the following beautiful words: Prayer is nourishment for the heart just like food is nourishment for the body. In the same way that the body does not become full from only a little food, the heart cannot subsist on only a shred of the prayer. Rather, a fully-engaged prayer is needed to nourish the heart.
