عن أبي بكر الصديق رضي الله عنه : أنَّهُ قَالَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ : عَلِّمْنِي دُعَاءً أدْعُو بِهِ فِي صَلَاتِي. قَالَ : "قُلِ «اللَّهُمَّ إنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي ظُلْمًا كَثِيرًا ، وَلَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إلَّا أنْتَ ، فَاغْفِرْ لِي مَغْفِرَةً مِنْ عِنْدِكَ وَارْحَمْنِي ؛ إنَّكَ أنْتَ الغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ»".
معاذ بن جبل كان يغادر المدينة، والنبي يمشي معه يودعه، وإذ فجأة يَهمِس النبي ﷺ لحبيبهِ بسرٍ مُؤلم: يا مُعاذ، إنَّكَ عسى ألا تَلْقاني بعدَ عامي هذا! هنا تتوقف نبضات معاذ، وتطفئ الأنوار من حوله، ثم يُكمل ﷺ همسه: ولعلَّك أن تمر بمسجدي هذا وقبري! فانهار مُعاذ من البُكاء.
