Сьогодні я обрала проігнорувати службу Ксавʼє де Местра при дворі російського імператора, його сибірські та кавказькі оповідки, і читаю «Подорож моєю кімнатою», яку він написав під домашнім арештом за участь у незаконній дуелі ще до переїзду до Росії. Ліжко бачить, як ми народжуємося, і бачить, як ми помираємо. Це постійно мінлива сцена, на якій людство розігрує, по черзі, зворушливі драми, кумедні фарси й моторошні…

Ексонець Трасілл захворів від нечуваної і дивовижної душевної хвороби. Бо залишив місто і прибув у Пірей, а переселившись сюди, вважав, що всі кораблі прибувають до нього, тобто належать йому, він записував їх і знову посилав у море і дуже радів, коли вони поверталися, уникнувши загибелі, отак і жив Трасілл чимало часу з тією хворобою... І лише брат, який повернувся із Сицилії, завів його до лікаря, завдяки чому він …
