Мы собирались поговорить о татуировках, тех самых, которые практиковалась на Аляске тысячелетиями женщинами из племен инупиатов и юпиков. Конечно, колонизация (а с ней и христианизация) в значительной мере подавила традицию нанесения татуировок, но новое поколение коренных женщин возрождает и восстанавливает эту практику. Нивхи с уловом. Снимок сделан фотографом Владимиром Ланиным в семидесятых годах девятнадцатого века. Ниже вы можете прочесть подпись: «Гиляки. Деревня Маго-Ляргунъ и Папгунъ». Сразу замечу, что «гиляки» — название устаревшее, и есть несколько версий его возникновения. Так, есть версия, согласно которой это слово произошло от гилэ («лодка») или гилэкэ, поскольку нивхи часто и умело на них передвигались, однако ряд ли…

Там же можно найти снимок этой пожилой женщины в профиль, и я понимаю, почему такие снимки коренных не являются редкостью в этнографических экспедициях начала двадцатого века, как понимаю, почему такие снимки вообще были сделаны, но в наше время, как мне кажется, их можно найти проблематичными... Но это в другой раз обсудим!

Нашла эту фотографию, когда искала информацию о движении «Sulfan Manju» («Free Manchuria»/«Свободная Маньчжурия»). Значительная часть сайтов и аккаунтов, посвящённых этому движению, была заброшена годы назад, а те, что остались, дышат на ладан, но они ещё доступны, так что время от времени высматриваю у них всякое.
