3 августа 1943 года во время Великой Отечественной войны началась операция советских партизан под названием «Рельсовая война». Она осуществлялась на протяжении 1,5 месяцев на оккупированной территории России, Белоруссии и Украины. В итоге было взорвано около 215 тысяч рельсов, что затруднило перегруппировки и снабжение отступающих немецко-фашистских войск.
