«الإيمان ليس أن تدعو فيُستجاب لك فتؤمن، فذاك إيمان مشروط، الإيمان الحقيقي هو أن تدعو فتُسد في وجهك الدروب، وتدعو فيسبقك الصحب، وتدعو فتدمي أقدامك أشواكُ الطريق، فما تزيد أن تقول: ربِّي ما ألطفك أيّ خير تُريده بي، ثم ما تنفك تدعو حتى يُنيسك أُنس الدُّعاء ما حلَّ من البلاء»

{ وَقَضَىٰ رَبُّكَ أَلَّا تَعۡبُدُوۤا۟ إِلَّاۤ إِیَّاهُ وَبِٱلۡوَ ٰلِدَیۡنِ إِحۡسَـٰنًاۚ إِمَّا یَبۡلُغَنَّ عِندَكَ ٱلۡكِبَرَ أَحَدُهُمَاۤ أَوۡ كِلَاهُمَا فَلَا تَقُل لَّهُمَاۤ أُفࣲّ وَلَا تَنۡهَرۡهُمَا وَقُل لَّهُمَا قَوۡلࣰا كَرِیمࣰا } [الإِسۡرَاءِ: ٢٣] إذا أردتَّ أن تعرفَ عظمةَ الوالدين فانظُر كيف قرَن الله حقَّه بحقِّهما، فالله أنعمَ عليك بنعمة الإيجاد، ووالداك أنعما عليك بنعمة التربية والإيلاد.
«كنت أسير في الطريق يومًا، فوجدت زجاجًا مكسورًا فجعلت أجمعه من طريق الناس فسمعت صوتًا من خلفي، يقول: "التمس بعملك هذا أن يغفر ﷲ لك به جميع ذنوبك" وكان شيخي قد خرج لتوه من المسجد، فسألته بعض الزجاج أجمعه من طريق الناس يغفر ﷲ لي به جميع ذنبي! فقال: أنتَ تفعل على قدرك وهو يعطي على قدره!»
قال الإمام الشافعي رحمه الله: "وَأُحِبُّ كَثرة الصلاة على النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في كل حال؛ وأَنا في يوم الجمعة، وليلتها أَشَدُّ استحبابًا"
