Eine Regierung braucht eine stabile Mehrheit aus sich heraus. Das ist der Sinn, warum ein Kanzler mit Kanzlermehrheit gewählt werden muss und nicht mit relativer. Ein Kanzler, der nur mit Stimmen der Opposition ins Amt kommt, verfügt nicht über eine solche Mehrheit.
Dieses Ergebnis ist eine Zäsur, ich meine: keine gute. Friedrich Merz ist nicht der Kanzler, den ich gewollt oder gewählt hätte. Aber eine handlungsfähige Regierung braucht eine Mehrheit. Für Denkzettel ist es nicht die Zeit. Deutschland & Europa brauchen Stabilität. Sehr bald.
Und, um das dazu zu sagen: Man kann der Opposition nicht vorwerfen, der Regierung nicht zur Mehrheit zu verhelfen. Das ist schon deren Aufgabe.

Niemand kann von der Union verlangen, von heute auf morgen ihre Position um 180 Grad zu drehen - aber man kann erwarten, dass ein solcher Bericht nicht schulterzuckend zur Kenntnis genommen wird. Aber: Viel Zeit zu verlieren haben wir nicht.
Ich war lange skeptisch, ob ein AfD/Verbotsverfahren der richtige Weg ist. Aber wer es mit der Wehrhaftigkeit unserer Demokratie ernst meint, darf davor nicht länger zurückschrecken. Herr Merz, Herr Söder – lassen Sie uns gemeinsam darüber reden, lassen Sie uns aktiv werden.
Deshalb: Unsere, ja auch meine persönliche Gesprächseinladung steht. Es ist jetzt die Stunde der Allianz der Demokraten.
Ich habe bisher keinem AfD-Vertreter meine Stimme gegeben – und werde das mit Blick auf das Personal der Partei auch weiterhin nicht tun.
Demokratie stirbt nicht von heute auf morgen. Sie wird Stück für Stück ausgehöhlt – wenn wir schweigen, wenn wir relativieren, wenn wir normalisieren. Das darf nicht passieren. Klare Haltung ist jetzt gefragt.
Es gibt drei Verfassungsorgane, die ein AfD-Verbotsverfahren beim Bundesverfassungsgericht anstrengen können: Bundestag, Bundesrat und Bundesregierung. Das heißt auch: Ohne CDU und CSU geht nichts.
Ein solcher Schritt braucht rechtliche Sorgfalt – aber auch den politischen Mut, ihn überhaupt in Betracht zu ziehen. Dass selbst aus der Union inzwischen Stimmen dafür kommen ist bemerkenswert. Ich lade CDU und CSU ausdrücklich und aufrichtig ein:
