Güneş aslında beyaz renklidir. Güneş'ten çıkan ışık tüm renklerin birleşimi olan saf beyazdır. Ancak bu ışık dünyamızın atmosferine girdiğinde, mavi ve mor gibi kısa dalga boylu renkler saçılır. Gözümüze daha çok ulaşan sarı ve kırmızı tonlar yüzünden biz Güneş'i sarımsı görürüz; uzaydan bakıldığında ise tamamen beyazdır.
