በአንድ ትልቅ ከተማ ውስጥ እጅግ ባለጸጋ የሆነና በምድር ላይ ያለውን ውድ ዕቃ ሁሉ የሚሸጥ አንድ ነጋዴ ነበረ። ይህ ነጋዴ በዓለም ላይ ካሉ እንቁዎች ሁሉ የሚበልጥና ዋጋው የማይገመት አንድ እጅግ የሚያምር "ታላቅ እንቁ" ነበረው። ነጋዴው ግን ይህንን እንቁ በሱቁ ውስጥ አላስቀመጠውም፤ ማንም ሰው እንዳይሰርቅበት ብሎ በጥልቅ ምድር ቤት ውስጥ በሚገኝ የብረት ሣጥን ውስጥ ቆልፎበት ይኖር ነበር። አንድ ቀን ግን በከተማዋ ላይ ከባድ የእሳት አደጋ ተነሳ። እሳቱ የነጋዴውን ቤትና ሱቅ በላው። ነጋዴው ግን ቤቱ ሲቃጠል እያየ ምንም አልደነገጠም፤ ምክንያቱም ዋናው ሀብቱ (እንቁው) ምድር ቤት ውስጥ በሰላም እንዳለ ያውቅ ነበር። እሳቱ ጠፍቶ ፍርስራሹ ሲጸዳ፣ ነጋዴው …
