Oregon: The 178,000 acre Battle Mountain Complex came together after the Snake Fire merged with the Monkey Creek Fire, and then the Boneyard Fire merged with those fires. A warming and drying trend is on the rise once again after a very brief period of normal temperatures. Thunderstorms and lightning and outflow winds make the opportunity for much larger fires possible.

Oregon begs the Fed for help with hundreds of wildfires, Washington is burning, steep and deep, and significant ramp-up is expected for the other states as the warm winds continue to cure out vegetation everywhere. California's fire season may extend into late October or November as the heatwave has dried out already dry forests, and Congress deliberates on permanent fire pay boosts.

With the massive heatwave kickstarting the worst of fire season for the West in July, August promises to be possibly even worse.

Firefighters are preparing private structures to withstand the coming Park Fire onslaught, this is in coordination with helicopters and SEATs, as well as an Australian VLAT on standby. Park Fire, California, 300k+ acres burned. Currently the largest fire in the country. USFS and CalFire resources have been struggling to contain this monstrous fire, stripping forests and stations of personnel to combat its rapid spread. Several communities are at risk.
