БМПТ‑84, проект створений на базі подовженого шасі Т‑84 та оснащений двигуном 6ТД‑2. Маса становила близько 49 тон, а основним озброєнням залишалася 125‑мм гармата від Т‑84 зі зменшеним у два рази боєкомплектом, додатково машина мала отримати два кулемети 12,7 мм і 7,62 мм, та десантне відділення на п’ятьох бійців, розміщене між баштою та двигуном.
