عند وضع المريض علي magnesium infusion كما في حالات ال pre-eclampsia فيجب متابعة حدوث المضاعفات التي قد تنتج من ال hypermagnesemia و منها loss of deep tendon reflex و ايضا يجب متابعة ال respiratory rate < 12. و في حالة حدوث المضاعفات فيجب وقف ال magnesium و اعطاء calcium chloride و محاولة التخلص من ال magnesium الزائد عن طريق ال diuretics او ال dialysis إذا لزم الامر .
