به‌دلیل اعتراضات گسترده در ایران و جان‌باختن و مجروح شدن شمار زیادی از هم‌وطنان، برگزارکنندگان تصمیم گرفتند برنامهٔ جشن ۲۵ سالگی ویکی‌پدیا در ایران را لغو کنند. با توجه به شرایط کنونی، بر این باوریم که زمان مناسبی برای برگزاری جشن نیست. از تمامی دوستانی که برای برنامه‌ریزی و هماهنگی این رویداد وقت و انرژی گذاشتند، و همچنین از افرادی که ثبت‌نام کرده بودند، صمیمانه عذرخواهی می‌کنیم و قدردان همراهی و درک شما هستیم.
