هؤلاء لا يقولون إنّهم الحسين. لكنّهم يعرفون أنّ شيئاً من الحسين يسكن الموقف الذي يقفونه. ولهذا أعتقد أنّ الذين قتلوا الحسين لم يكونوا سبعين أو ثمانين رجلاً ثم انتهى الأمر. فكلّ عصرٍ يُنجب قتلة الحسين من جديد. لا لأنّهم يرفعون السيوف. بل لأنّهم يحاولون إقناع الناس بأنّ الحسين أصبح من الماضي. بينما كانت رسالته كلّها تقول العكس. أنّ الحقّ لا يشيخ. وأنّ الكرامة لا تموت. وأنّ الإنسان، مهما تغيّرت الأزمنة، سيبقى محتاجاً …
ولهذا أخشى أحياناً على الحسين من بعض محبّيه أكثر ممّا أخشى عليه من أعدائه. فالعدوّ كان واضحاً. كان يرفع رايته ويعلن موقفه. أمّا هؤلاء فيقولون إنّهم يريدون حفظ الحسين، ثم يحاصرونه داخل الماضي. يحوّلونه إلى ذكرى بدلاً من أن يبقى منهجًا. وإلى طقس بدلاً من أن يبقى موقفاً. وإلى حزن بدلاً من أن يبقى طريقاً. مع أنّ سرّ الحسين كلّه أنّه رفض أن يكون مجرّد ذكرى. خرج من حدود زمانه ومكانه، وصار جزءاً من اللغة التي يفهمها المظلو…
لهذا كنت أشعر دائماً بشيء من الغرابة عندما أسمع بعض الناس ينزعجون من وصف ثائر أو مصلح أو مقاوم بأنّه يسير على خطى الحسين. كأنّهم يخشون أن يقترب أحد من تلك القمّة. مع أنّ قيمة القمم ليست في أن تبقى بعيدة. بل في أن تدلّ المسافرين على الطريق. فالحسين ليس حادثةً تاريخية نحرسها. ولا أثراً قديماً نبكي عنده. ولا اسماً نعلّقه على الجدران. إنّه إمكانية إنسانية. إمكانية أن يرفض الإنسان الذلّ. أن يتمسّك بما يراه حقّاً. أن يدفع…
وكم من الأفكار العظيمة تحوّلت إلى تماثيل جامدة بسبب كثرة التبجيل. أشعر بهذا كلّما رأيت أحداً يحاول حبس الحسين داخل سنة إحدى وستين للهجرة. كأنّ مهمّته انتهت هناك. وكأنّ عاشوراء حادثة وقعت ثم أُغلقت أبوابها إلى الأبد. مع أنّ أكثر ما تعلّمناه من الحسين أنّ بعض المعارك لا تنتهي. فكربلاء ليست مكاناً فقط. إنّها اسم للحظة يتكرّر وقوعها في حياة البشر. حين يقف الحقّ ضعيفاً أمام القوّة. وحين يصبح الصمت أكثر أمناً من الكلام. …
أمّا الحسين الذي بقي حيّاً في ضمير الناس فلم يزل يُقتل إلى اليوم. بل ربّما يُقتل الآن بطرقٍ أكثر هدوءاً وأشدّ خطراً. عندما كنت أصغر سنّاً، كنت أظنّ أنّ عدوّ الحسين رجل يحمل سيفاً. ثم اكتشفت لاحقاً أنّ السيف ليس دائماً من حديد. أحياناً يكون فكرة. وأحياناً يكون خوفاً. وأحياناً يكون مصلحة. وأحياناً يكون نوعاً غريباً من المحبّة. نعم، المحبّة أيضاً. فكم من الأشياء الجميلة خنقها الناس وهم يحاولون حمايتها
